Morning sewing — Fandango Quilt

November 14, 2010

It’s a good morning when you can wake up and sew for a couple of hours in complete silence. I believe I found heaven…at least for 2 hours.

The quilt block to the left is from a pattern called, “Daisy Chain,” from Pam & Nicky Lintott’s book, “Jelly Roll Quilts.” If you recall, it’s the second time I’m making this quilt pattern this year. So far it’s been one of my favorite patterns to make because it looks more complicated than it actually is and sews up in no time. Seriously, I promise.

I started this quilt last weekend after Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild Meeting last Sunday. After our meeting, I cut all of the background fabric and jelly roll strips per pattern. Then I started sew the strip units which carried into Monday and Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday evening (after work) I sub-cut all of the pieces. Then Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday, I built the final blocks. Yeah, I know all that in one week. I hope to finish this quilt top by next weekend as the only thing I have left to do is make the rows and sew them together. I know, a quilt top in two weeks. I {heart} Jelly Rolls.

I love love love this block. The more I see from this book, the more I want it!

I like what you did with it. I have that charm pack and have ignored it for a while. I will do better.

If you looking for something to make with a charm pack, I’ll bring one of my super simple patterns that uses only one charm pack to our next meeting.
